Chicago, IL – The Birth Center at PCC and New Moms will co-host “Women’s Night Out,” a free community event where women can enjoy an evening of fellowship. Women’s Night Out events foster community, model self-care techniques, and introduce health concepts such as nutrition or physical activity for women and mothers. This month’s event will be held on Thursday, June 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Moms at 5317 W. Chicago Avenue in Chicago.

Chicago, IL – For the seventh year, the PCC Austin Farm Stand will sell low-priced, organically grown produce in the Austin community. These fresh vegetables are harvested locally, from the PCC Austin Farm. Beginning June 6, visitors can choose among a variety of seasonal items, including lettuce, scallions, garlic, kale, and mustard and collard greens.

Chicago, IL – On May 16, 2017, PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) participated in “On the Table,” an annual forum designed by The Chicago Community Trust to elevate civic conversation, foster new relationships, and inspire collaborative action across the region.

Chicago, IL – The PCC Austin farm will be hosting Women and Herbs, a free community workshop on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to plant their own seedlings, learn about how to use herbs for health and wellness, and tour the farm.

Chicago, IL – May 1, 2017 – PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) was pleased to receive $50,000 in renewal funding from Searle Funds at The Chicago Community Trust. Funds will support general operations of PCC’s Care Management Program expansion.

Chicago, IL – Dr. Vanessa Villacorta-Sierra, Family Medicine Physician at PCC Community Wellness Center at Steinmetz has flexible appointment availability and is accepting new patients. As a Family Medicine physician she can care for the entire family. In addition, Dr. Villacorta-Sierra specializes in Maternal Child Health and does prenatal & postpartum care, including higher risk obstetrics. She also has a special interest in weight management and healthy living. Her services also include free pregnancy testing, family planning, well woman care including pap smears and breast exams.

Chicago, IL – The PCC Austin Farm at PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) is launching its third season of urban gardening workshops to encourage residents of the Austin community to grow their own fruits and vegetables for a healthier lifestyle. Held conveniently during lunchtime, the Lunch & Learn workshops teach individuals how to grow local, sustainable produce using organic practices. Sessions are free and open to the community. The first session of the season will be held on Thursday, March 23.

Chicago, IL – As a complement to providing primary health care for residents of the Austin community, PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) is celebrating National Nutrition Month® at its Austin-based health center. On March 13, March 20, March 27, and March 28, dietetic interns from Dominican University will coordinate activities to provide patients and staff with practical tips for eating healthier. Participants will have the opportunity to test their nutrition knowledge, taste some nutritious snacks, play games, win prizes, and have pressing questions answered by dietitians.
