Chicago, IL - This summer, PCC Community Wellness Center (PCC) was awarded funding from the March of Dimes, Illinois Chapter for the Ready/LISTA Pregnancy Testing Program. PCC is grateful for the continued support of the Chapter and for the opportunity to further the March of Dimes’ mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Through the March of Dimes funding, PCC will be able to fully spread the READY/LISTA program to our Austin, North, and West Town sites, and formalize the program to ensure comprehensive preconception and early pregnancy counseling. This will have a great impact on the health of women in Chicago, their pregnancies, and ultimately their future children.

The New Mom’s Wellness Support program will complement the care provided to new moms from providers at the PCC Austin Family Health Center. A Health Support Specialist at PCC will collaborate with staff from the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Women, Infants, and Children Program (CEDA WIC) to deliver weight management and healthy lifestyle programming to new moms.
