  • Bernie Aguilar, APN – Family Nurse Practitioner (Female)

  • Bernie Aguilar is an advanced nurse practitioner who joined PCC in 2014. She studied nursing at Elmhurst College and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is fluent in English and Spanish. Outside of work, Bernie enjoys traveling.



  • Mahnaz Ali, DO – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Ali obtained her medical education from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in 2006. She completed residency at the University of Arizona. Dr. Ali also holds a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago. She speaks English, Hindi, and Urdu. In her leisure time, Dr. Ali enjoys cooking and traveling.



  • Yesenia Arce, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Arce earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in 2013. Specializing in family medicine, she completed residency at MacNeal Hospital. Prior to her career in medicine, Dr. Arce was an English language teacher. She is also fluent in Spanish. She joined the PCC health care team in 2016.



  • Mary Kay Ayers, DNP, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Mary Kay has significant experience as a certified nurse-midwife, working both in the home and hospital setting since 1991. She attained her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mary Kay is passionate about natural birth and alternative and complimentary health. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, running, billiards, sewing, and spending time with family. Mary Kay speaks Spanish and English.



  • Christabelle Cabanilla, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Cabanilla is a family medicine physician who completed her undergraduate and medical education at the University of the Philippines. She completed residency at the University of Missouri Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Cabanilla joined PCC in 2011. In addition to English, she speaks Tagalog fluently.



  • James Gomez, MD – OB/GYN Physician (Male)

  • Specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Gomez joined the PCC health care team in 2016. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1990. He also studied medicine at Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez – Colegio de Medicina in Mexico. Dr. Gomez is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. He is married with four children.



  • Tamayo Kawai, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Kawai received her medical education at St. George's University – School of Medicine in Grenada. She completed residency at the University of Florida. Prior to medicine, she taught music from elementary to high school. Dr. Kawai also holds a master’s degree in psychological counseling from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Dr. Kawai speaks both English and Japanese. In her leisure time, she enjoys music, running, and traveling.



  • Colleen Loo-Gross, MD, MPH – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Loo Gross received her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health from the University of Kansas – School of Medicine in 2012. She completed residency through the Highland Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Loo-Gross concentrated in global health and maternal child health. She also participated in the Maternal Child Health Fellowship at PCC Community Wellness Center. Dr. Loo-Gross was honored with membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She speaks English, Spanish, and Mandarin.



  • Gina Marcin, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Gina Marcin is a certified nurse-midwife who completed her nursing education at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. With a background as an herbalist and acupuncturist, she treats mothers and families from a holistic perspective. Gina is dedicated to the midwifery model of care and is eager to support mothers in the out-of-hospital birth setting. For recreation, Gina enjoys camping, gardening, and fire-tending. Each year, she also co-organizes a medicinal herbal conference, The Midwest Herb Fest, in southern Indiana.



  • Tera Martin, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Tera Martin graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009 with a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery. Since then, she has worked as a homebirth midwife in Chicago and the nearby suburbs. She is committed to providing holistic, evidence-based midwifery care to women who birth outside of hospitals. In her free time, Tera enjoys traveling and hiking. She once combined her love of both during a 500 mile hike through Spain.



  • Maureen Ruder, MD – OB/GYN Physician (Female)

  • With a specialization in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Ruder is passionate about caring for women during pregnancy and childbirth. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. In 1986, Dr. Ruder completed residency at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. Outside of medicine, she enjoys painting in color with acrylics, watching documentaries, taking short road trips, and exploring Chicago neighborhoods.


Behavioral Health Providers
  • Kimberly Finnegan, APN – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Female)

  • Kimberly Finnegan is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing in 2016. She is committed to counseling and treating patients in need of psychiatric and substance abuse services.
