Medical Providers
  • Mary Kay Ayers, DNP, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Mary Kay has significant experience as a certified nurse-midwife, working both in the home and hospital setting since 1991. She attained her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mary Kay is passionate about natural birth and alternative and complimentary health. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, running, billiards, sewing, and spending time with family. Mary Kay speaks Spanish and English.



  • Cecelia Bacom, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Ceal Bacom is a certified nurse-midwife who joined PCC in 2004. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature at the University of Virginia. She later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Northwestern University and a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1988. She completed clinical rotations primarily at Cook County Hospital (now Stroger Hospital). She has extensive experience providing care for families both in and out of the hospital setting. Ceal has received numerous honors including an Award for Innovative Midwifery Care from the American College of Nurse-Midwives – Illinois Affiliate and the Joyce Roberts Award for Excellence in Midwifery. She is fluent in Spanish. In her leisure time, Ceal enjoys gardening, reading, and bike riding.



  • Ellen Barton, APN – Family Nurse Practitioner (Female)

  • Ellen Barton is a family nurse practitioner who joined PCC in 2005. She completed both her undergraduate and nursing education at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1988. She was honored with the Dr. William Fitzsimmons Public Health Award in 2013. Ellen strives to involve her patients in their care as much as possible and communicate in ways that reduce confusion and improve patient understanding. By improving their understanding of how to maintain good health and control diseases, she hopes to empower them to make healthy decisions. In her leisure time, Ellen enjoys gardening.



  • Erika Castro, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Castro received her medical education at Ross University in 2014. She completed residency at Stroger Hospital as part of the Cook County-Loyola Family Residency Program. Dr. Castro was honored as Intern of the Year and Chief Resident. She speaks both English and Spanish. Outside of medicine, Dr. Castro enjoys running, reading and volleyball.



  • Rebecca DeHoek, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. DeHoek is a family medicine physician who joined the PCC health care team in 2010. She serves as the Medical Director at PCC South Family Health Center. Dr. DeHoek received her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago – Stritch School of Medicine in 2007 and completed residency at West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Also, Dr. DeHoek is an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University – Feinberg School of Medicine. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling and volunteering at her church.



  • Elizabeth Dowell, MD – Family Medicine Physician (Female)

  • Dr. Dowell received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University – School of Medicine in 1995. She completed her residency training at the University of Arizona Family Medicine Residency Program. Having served at PCC since 2008, Dr. Dowell has demonstrated a commitment to community health. Also passionate about global health, she spent a year caring for patients at Hôpital Albert Schweitzer (HAS) in Deschapelles, Haiti. Similar to PCC, HAS provides health care for the medically underserved. Dr. Dowell speaks both English and Creole. She is a great resource at PCC and works at numerous sites.



  • Kelly Ellis, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Kelly Ellis is a certified nurse-midwife who joined the PCC health care team in 2013. She completed her nursing education at the University of Cincinnati in 2010. Kelly is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and can offer extensive breastfeeding support for patients. Outside of midwifery, Kelly enjoys photography, running, and traveling.



  • Katherine Herold, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Katherine Herold is a certified nurse-midwife who completed her midwifery training at the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Nursing in 2011. Katherine joined PCC in 2012. She speaks Spanish fluently. Her other interests include bicycling, writing, improvisational comedy, and traveling.



  • Jennifer Jaume, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Jen Jaume received her Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. She boasts a strong background in caring for mothers and families, having worked as a doula and homebirth nurse. Born in Cuban Miami, Jen came to Chicago to raise her family. The many things she loves include dancing, laughing, reading, cooking, and mothering. Jen is fluent in Spanish and English.



  • Charity Lehn, MD – Family Medicine Physician, Fellow (Female)

  • Dr. Lehn is a PCC Fellow who completed both her undergraduate and medical education at Saint Louis University. Upon graduation in 2013, she was honored with membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Also, she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for serving as a role model. Dr. Lehn completed residency at McGaw Northwestern Family Medicine Residency. Her medical interests include women's health and obstetrics, chronic disease management, resident education, and refugee health. Dr. Lehn also speaks Spanish.



  • Gina Marcin, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Gina Marcin is a certified nurse-midwife who completed her nursing education at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. With a background as an herbalist and acupuncturist, she treats mothers and families from a holistic perspective. Gina is dedicated to the midwifery model of care and is eager to support mothers in the out-of-hospital birth setting. For recreation, Gina enjoys camping, gardening, and fire-tending. Each year, she also co-organizes a medicinal herbal conference, The Midwest Herb Fest, in southern Indiana.



  • Tera Martin, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Tera Martin graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009 with a Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery. Since then, she has worked as a homebirth midwife in Chicago and the nearby suburbs. She is committed to providing holistic, evidence-based midwifery care to women who birth outside of hospitals. In her free time, Tera enjoys traveling and hiking. She once combined her love of both during a 500 mile hike through Spain.



  • Lindsay Martin-Engel, MD, MPH – Family Medicine Physician(Female)

  • Dr. Martin-Engel received her medical education from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in 2013. She is completing her residency at PCC, as part of the West Suburban Medical Center – Family Medicine Residency Program. She also serves as PCC’s Research Coordinator. Dr. Martin-Engel was honored with the Graduating Resident Teaching Award in 2016, the Winter Griffith Scholarship for Excellence in Practice Improvement, the Family Medicine Student of the Year in 2013, and the American Association of Family Practice Community Outreach Award in 2012. Also, she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2013. Dr. Martin-Engel is passionate about family medicine which allows her to care for patients "from womb to tomb." She enjoys obstetrics, pediatrics, and treating adult acute and chronic diseases. In her leisure time, Dr. Martin-Engel loves yoga, running, skiing, and traveling.



  • Annette Payot, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Annette Payot provides leadership to PCC’s Midwives as the Director of Midwifery. She is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who joined PCC in 2009. Annette completed her nursing and midwifery education at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007. With an undergraduate degree in international studies, she spent many years working with international grants programs and volunteered with the Peace Corps in Mongolia. Annette loves all things related to natural childbirth. In addition to midwifery, she enjoys running, jogging, and listening to music. Annette speaks both English and Spanish.



  • Mary Rigoni, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Mary Rigoni completed her midwifery education at the University of Illinois at Chicago in May 2014. She has a diverse work background including birth work, medical surgical and pediatric care as well as a past life in cognitive and social psychology research. When not at work, Mary loves being at home or at the beach with her husband and two children.



  • Amy Willen, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Amy Willen received her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University in 2004 and has since attended births as a nurse-midwife in several settings including both large and smaller hospitals, free standing birth centers, and homes in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Amy believes in natural childbirth and loves being able to tailor her midwifery care to support women's choices no matter what setting they are in. Amy enjoys traveling and has lived in Thailand and worked as a midwife in Uganda and Tanzania. She loves learning new languages but speaks mostly English and Spanish. Committed to providing care in underserved areas, Amy is a member of the National Health Service Corps.



  • Molly Wangler, APN – Family Nurse Practitioner (Female)

  • Molly Wangler is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who completed her nursing education at Loyola University Chicago – Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing in 2014. She was awarded the Kim Noonan Scholarship and inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International – Honor Society of Nursing. Ever passionate about nursing, she volunteered to serve patients in Costa Rica. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. Outside of nursing, Molly enjoys yoga, music, and cooking.



  • Katherine Wehrmann, CNM – Certified Nurse-Midwife (Female)

  • Katy Wehrmann is a certified-nurse midwife who joined PCC in 2013. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at North Park University, she completed her Master of Science in Midwifery at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing in 2013, graduating magna cum laude. Prior to nursing school, Katy served as an AmeriCorps volunteer at PCC where she worked as a doula and maternal and child health educator. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, biking, reading, and occasionally cooking elaborate meals.



  • Charles Yingling, DNP, APN – Family Nurse Practitioner (Male)

  • Charles Yingling is an advanced nurse practitioner who attained his Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Nursing in 2005. As a leading nurse practitioner, he was honored to become a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP). His clinical interests include helping patients change behaviors to promote optimum health and wellness. Passionate about preparing the next generation of nurse practitioners to meet the health care needs of underserved communities, he serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Nursing. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, running, and cooking.


Behavioral Health Providers
  • Crystal Cole, APN – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Female)

  • Crystal Cole joined the PCC behavioral health care team in 2014. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Crystal is passionate about offering primary care services to individuals and families with psychiatric disorders to improve their overall wellbeing.



  • Aline Defiglia, LCSW, MPH – Behavioral Health Consultant (Female)

  • Aline Defiglia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the PCC behavioral health team in 2016. She completed a dual degree program at the University of Georgia to obtain a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health (with specialties in global development and health promotion and behavior) in 2012. In addition to social work, she has worked as an English as a Second Language instructor and as a horse wrangler on a ranch in the western part of the U.S. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking with her dog, horseback riding, and dancing.



  • Denise Martinez – Behavioral Health Intern (Female)


  • Alexander Serrano, MSW – Behavioral Health Consultant (Male)

  • Alexander Serrano joined the PCC behavioral health care team in 2016. He completed undergraduate and graduate studies at Dominican University, where he made the Dean’s List and obtained a Master in Social Work in 2011. With previous experience as an applied behavior analyst, Alexander is completing coursework at the University of North Dakota to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In his leisure time, Alexander enjoys walking his French bulldog, cheering on the Cubs, and playing Xbox One.



  • Edith Zamudio, LCSW – Behavioral Health Consultant (Female)

  • Edith Zamudio is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the PCC behavioral health care team in 2013. She attained her Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago – School of Social Service Administration in 2011. Edith honed her social work skills during internships at Metropolitan Family Services and Chicago Public Schools. In her leisure time, Edith enjoys traveling, painting, running marathons, reading, and volunteering in her community.




Dental Providers
  • Alaba Adelakun, DDS – Dentist (Male)

  • Dr. Adelakun earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Dentistry in 2009. He completed residency at Shawnee Health Services. Dr. Adelakun is experienced in general dentistry, including surgical and simple extractions and endodontic and periodontal therapies.



  • William Madison, DDS – Dentist (Male)

  • Dr. Madison received his dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Dentistry in 2011. He completed residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Madison is well-versed in general dentistry, including oral surgery and endodontics. He also has extensive training in providing special patient care for patients with developmental disabilities. Dr. Madison joined the PCC dentistry team in 2012.



  • Ryan Tuscher, DDS – Dentist (Female)

  • Dr. Tuscher earned her dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago – College of Dentistry in 2009. She completed residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Tuscher serves as PCC’s Dental Director. She is highly experienced in performing preventative, restorative, and emergent dental care for adults and children. Dr. Tuscher is passionate about dentistry and has volunteered her time frequently to provide comprehensive dental treatment to underserved patient populations.



  • Rachel Zurek, DDS – Dentist (Female)

  • Dr. Zurek completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Michigan in 2014. She completed residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Zurek enjoys yoga, biking, cooking, traveling, and exploring Chicago.
